Jobs in the management of companies and enterprises industry had the highest average wages in Providence County for the 2nd quarter of 2006. The average worker in the industry in Providence County received a wage of $123,808 in 2nd quarter of 2006. Income and Poverty in Providence County, Rhode Island

Hispanic headed households in Providence County, Rhode Island reported a median household income of $25,796, which is 40.3 percent less than reported value of the areas total household median income for all households. The American Indian and Alaska Native householders in Providence County reported an income level of $23,949, this was 44.6 percent less than the median level for total households in the area. In Providence County, Rhode Island White headed households reported a median household income (2005 Dollars) of $46,671 according to the 2000 Dencennial Census, which was 8 percent greater than the median income in 2000. Demographic Profile for Providence County, Rhode Island

In 2005, the Census Bureau estimated the median age in Providence County, Rhode Island to be 36.2 years of age. The median in Providence is less than the median age in Rhode Island of 38.4. Since 2000, the area has experienced an increase in the median age, at that time the median was 35.5 years of age. With 23.7 percent of the 2005 population being comprised of individuals under the age of 18, Providence can be described as being made up of a medium-high proportion of youths. The working age population group (18-64) has a medium-high presence of the 2005 population base, with 62.8 percent of the population makes up this age category. The retirement (65 and over) age group comprises 13.6 percent of the population in the area. When compared to other counties throughout the United States, this represents a medium-low proportion of the area population base.

Since the year 2000, a very high number of individual migrated to the Providence from outside the country.
