Income and Poverty in Lawrence County, South Dakota

Lawrence County, South Dakota had an estimated population of 22,395 in 2005. The total population has increased, since the 2000 total population of 21,764. This growth represents an increase of 2.9 percent. Lawrence ranks 7 of 66 counties when analyzing total population change in South Dakota and the county ranks 1,308 of 3,141 counties when analyzing total county population change across the nation.

In 2005, the Census Bureau estimated the median age in Lawrence County, South Dakota to be 39.4 years of age. The median age in Lawrence is greater than the median age for the State of South Dakota of 37.0. Since the year 2000, the area has seen an increase in the median age, when it was 37.3 years old.
