Income and Poverty in Houston County, Tennessee

Black or African American headed households had a median household income that was 24.1 percent less than the total 2000 reported median, with a their median reported to be $26,618. Hispanic in Houston County, Tennessee recorded a median income of $37,537, which is 7.1 percent greater than the areas median income level for all households. The American Indian and Alaska Native headed households in Houston County had a median income of $39,488, which was 12.6 percent greater than the median for all households. Houston County, Tennessee had a population that was estimated at 7,988 in 2005. The total population has decreased, since the 2000 total population of 8,019.
