Demographic Profile for Bowie County, Texas

Bowie County, Texas has a population that is comprised of 68.3 percent White, 24.1 percent African American, 0.6 percent Asian, and 5.3 percent Hispanic. The population mix can be considered to have a high level of diversity in terms of race and ethnicity, with 30.0 percent of the population made up of minorities. This is less than the State of Texas percent of 49.5. Since 2000, Bowie has increased in diversity when 28.4 percent of the people were minorities.

In terms of total land area, Bowie covers a total land area of 888 square miles. This area has a medium-low density of 102 persons per square mile.
