Demographic Profile for Camp County, Texas

Camp County, Texas has a population that is made up of 61.8 percent White, 17.3 percent African American, 0.4 percent Asian, and 19.7 percent Hispanic. This area can be considered to have a high level of diversity, with 37.4 percent of the population made up of minorities. This is less than the State of Texas percent of 49.5. Since 2000, Camp has increased in diversity when 34.7 percent of the total population were minorities.

In terms of total land area, Camp spans a total area of 198 square miles. The land areas has a medium-low average area density of 62 persons per square mile. Estimated since the year 2000, a very high amount of people have migrated to Camp internationally. The international migration into Camp makes up 0.1 percent of the total migration into the State of Texas. This level of international migration can be considered very high when compared to international migration per 2005 population.

Camp County, Texas had a population that was estimated at 12,238 for the year 2005. The total population has increased sharply, since its 2000 population of 11,595. This growth represents an increase of 5.5 percent. Camp ranks 104 of 254 counties by growth in total population in Texas and the county ranks 1,301 of 3,141 counties when analyzing total county population change across the nation.
