Demographic Profile for Chambers County, Texas

Since 2000, a high number of individual migrated to the Chambers from another country. The international migration into Chambers totals 0 percent of the total international migration into the State of Texas. This amount of international migration is high when compared to international migration per 2005 population.

Chambers County, Texas had a population that was estimated at 28,411 in 2005. The total population has increased sharply, since its 2000 population of 26,173. This growth denotes an increase of 8.6 percent. Chambers ranks 63 of 254 counties in terms of population growth in Texas and the county ranks 777 of 3,141 counties in terms of population growth in the United States.

By measuring total land area, Chambers spans a total area of 599 square miles. This area has a low population density of 47 persons per square mile, in 2005. Chambers County, Texas has a population base that is comprised of 73.4 percent White, 10 percent African American, 0.9 percent Asian, and 14.5 percent Hispanic. The area can be described as having a high level of diversity in terms of race and ethnicity, with 25.4 percent of the population made up of minorities. This is less than the State of Texas percent of 49.5. Since 2000, Chambers has increased the percent of minority makeup when 21.6 percent of the population was made up of minorities.
