Higher Education in Brazos County, Texas

Brazos County, Texas is made up of a very highly-educated population of the working age, with 37 percent of the over 25 years old population having a Bachelors Degree or Higher, according to the 2000 Decennial Census. Brazos has a higher percent of individuals with higher educations than the State of Texas's proportion of 23.2 percent and a higher percent than the national average of 24.4 percent.

According to the 2000 Decennial Census in Brazos County, Texas, a high proportion of the male population in the area have reached the Bachelors Degree or Higher category, with 41.6 percent receiving this level of education. The women in Brazos have achieved a lower level of higher education (Bachelors Degree or Higher) than the male population-- 41.6 percent (Men) versus 32.6 percent (Women). The most common level of education for women in the area is Bachelors Degree or Higher category, with 32.6 percent of the women population in the area achieving this level of education.

From 2000, Brazos has increased in the population percent with a Bachelors Degree or Higher. This population percent has grown by 5.2 percent to a total of 42.2 percent in 2005, according to the American Community Survey. By the year 2005, a total of 39.4 percent of the female population having received at least a Bachelors Degree.

In Brazos County, Texas according to the Decennial Census of 2000, 41 percent of the White Alone, 10.4 percent of Black or African American, 81.2 percent of the Asian alone and 14.8 percent of the Hispanic or Latino population (over 25) has obtained a Bachelors Degree or Higher.
