Income and Poverty in Kleberg County, Texas

When put side-by-side with other counties (or parishes) throughout the United States, Kleberg County, Texas can be considered to have a very high rate of poverty among the people, accounting a rate of 26.7 percent with a family income under the 1999 poverty level. The 2000 Decennial Census reported that in Kleberg County, Texas, the most common level of education achieved in the area for the male population is the Less than High School category, with 30 percent obtaining this level of education. Kleberg County, Texas has a population that is made up of 26.1 percent White, 3.2 percent African American, 2 percent Asian, and 67.8 percent Hispanic.
