The losses of the area have declined faster than the industry has experienced in the State of Texas, where the industry reported a loss of 12.9 percent. The losses in the Nonresidential building construction industry in San Patricio County outpaced the United States industry losses overall. During this period, the United States lost 1.6 percent in terms of employment in the Nonresidential building construction industry.

Income and Poverty in San Patricio County, Texas

While household income level experienced a decline since 2000 in San Patricio County, Texas, the Race/Ethnicity category that saw the sharpest decline in household income was the White category. Since 2000, San Patricio has increased in the total percent of the over 25 population having a Bachelors Degree or Higher. Employment Report for San Patricio County, Texas -- Annual 2005 Industry Summary

Mining in the period of 2001 to 2005 had the largest increase in employment in San Patricio County, growing by 171.6 percent.
