In Tarrant County, jobs in the oil and gas extraction pay the highest wages

Income and Poverty in Tarrant County, Texas

As the median household income witnessed a decline since 2000 in Tarrant County, Texas, the Race/Ethnicity category that saw the sharpest decline in median income was the Hispanic category. This category saw a decline of 16.7 percent since 2000. The American Indian and Alaska Native population group was least impacted by the household income decline in Tarrant County, seeing a 2.8 percent decline in household income level, since the year 2005.

Higher Education in Tarrant County, Texas

From the years 2000 to 2005, the proportion of the male population that could be considered highly educated has increased by 1.0 percent. As reported in 2005, 30 percent of total male population (over 25), in this area, held at least a Bachelors Degree. At the same time, the percent of women (over 25) holding a BA or higher has increased by a total of 1.8 percent. Tarrant County, Texas had an estimated population of 1,620,479 in 2005. The estimated population has increased sharply, from the population in the year 2000 of 1,454,401. This growth shows an increase of 11.4 percent. Tarrant ranks 2 of 254 counties in terms of population growth in Texas and the county ranks 7 of 3,141 counties by growth in county population in the United States.

In terms of total land area, Tarrant spans a total area of 863 square miles. The county has a very high average area density of 1,877 persons per square mile, in 2005. Employment Report for Tarrant County, Texas -- Annual 2005 Industry Summary

Manufacturing since the year 2001 was faced with the largest loss in employment in Tarrant County. The sector faced a loss of 9,223 employees during the period, or 9.7 percent of the employment in the industry. This made up a total of 40.9 percent of the total jobs loss in the County.
