In Zapata County, jobs in the oil and gas extraction pay the highest wages

According to the 2000 Decennial Census in Zapata County, Texas, the most common level of education achieved in the area for the male population is the Less than High School category, with 47.8 percent obtaining this level of education. Demographic Profile for Zapata County, Texas

When measuring the total land area, Zapata extends a total area of 997 square miles. The county has a very low average area density of 13 persons per square mile, in 2005. Similar counties, in terms of density, in the US include: -- more densely populated -- Washington, ME (13 per sq. mile ), Natrona, WY (13 per sq. mile ), Grant, KS (13 per sq. mile ), -- less densely populated -- Morgan, UT (13 per sq. mile ), Dixon, NE (13 per sq. mile ), Pratt, KS (13 per sq. mile ).
