Income and Poverty in Uintah County, Utah

Contrasted against to other counties (or parishes) throughout the US, Uintah County, Utah can be recognized as having a medium-high poverty rate amid the residents with a poverty rate of 14.5 percent of people living in a family with an income below the poverty level in 1999. Uintah County, Utah may to understood as having a moderately-educated population of the working age, with 13.2 percent of the population (+25) having received at least a Bachelors Degree, as reported in the Decennial Census of 2000. Uintah has a lower percent of highly educated individuals than the State of Utah's proportion of 26.2 percent and a lower percent than the US proportion of 24.4 percent.

In Uintah County, Utah according to the Decennial Census of 2000, 13.8 percent of the White Alone, 0 percent of Black or African American, 36.2 percent of the Asian alone and 9.2 percent of the Hispanic or Latino population, over the age 25, has achieved at least a Bachelors Degree.

The 2000 Decennial Census reported that in Uintah County, Utah, a high proportion of the male population in the area have reached the High School Diploma category, with 37.2 percent achieving this level. The female population in Uintah have attainment on average a lower level of higher education (Bachelors or Higher) than men -- 14.2 percent (Men) versus 12.2 percent (Women). Many of the women in the area have achieved the High School Diploma category, with 35 percent of the female population achieving this education level.

Uintah County, Utah had a total estimated population of 26,995 in the year 2005. The population has increased sharply, from the population in the year 2000 of 25,272. This growth shows an increase of 6.8 percent. Uintah ranks 12 of 29 counties when analyzing total population change in Utah and the county ranks 893 of 3,141 counties in terms of population growth in the United States.

Uintah County, Utah has a population that is made of 85.7 percent White, 0.2 percent African American, 0.4 percent Asian, and 3.8 percent Hispanic. The retirement (65 and over) age group comprises 10.4 percent of the population. When compared to other counties in the United States, this represents a medium-low percent of the population.

Estimated since the year 2000, a low amount of people migrated to Uintah internationally. The migration from outside the US into Uintah makes up 0.1 percent of the total international migration into the State of Utah. This percent of international migration is low when analyzed against immigration per population in 2005.
