In Roosevelt County, New Mexico, the aggregate employment for all industry sectors has increased by 6.5%, or 411 jobs, between 2002 and 2006. From the 99 industries (3-digit NAICS) with sufficient data reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) in each year, 44 did not experience any change, 28 showed an escalation in the number employed, and 27 industry sectors reported declines during the time period.Out of the 3-digit NAICS industries, the Social assistance industry has brought the most jobs with a total of 168 total jobs brought in during the period. The growth in Social assistance makes up 6.8% percent of the growth in Roosevelt County, New Mexico. Top Growing Industries: 1. Social assistance (168 new jobs) 2. Food manufacturing (83 new jobs) 3. Animal production (76 new jobs) 4. Rental and leasing services (15 new jobs) 5. Furniture and home furnishings stores (14 new jobs) Of the area's industries (3-digit NAICS), the Merchant wholesalers, nondurable goods industry faced the greatest employment loss with a total loss of 137 jobs during the time period. The jobs lost in Merchant wholesalers, nondurable goods makes up 7.8% percent of the employment lost during the period in Roosevelt County, New Mexico. Top Declining Industries: 1.
