Higher Education in the Lynchburg, VA Metro Area

From 2000 to 2005, the percent of male population that is highly educated has increased by 2.8 percent. Demographic Profile for Lynchburg, VA

The Lynchburg metropolitan statistical area (MSA) has a population that is comprised of 84.3 percent White, 13.1 percent African American, 0.6 percent Asian, and 1 percent Hispanic. This area can be considered to have a modest level of diversity, with 14.7 percent of the population being minorities. This is less than the State of Virginia percent of 30. Since 2000, Lynchburg has increased the percent of minority population when 14.5 percent of the people were minorities.

When calculating the total land area, the Lynchburg metro area spans a total area of 2068 square miles. The land areas has a medium-low density of 79 persons per square mile, in 2005.
