Total industry employment has increased by 7.3 percent from 2005 (2nd Quarter). These figures are greater than growth in the State of Virginia, which went through a gain of 1.9 percent from the 2nd Quarter of 2005. Franklin County, Virginia is made up of a moderately-educated population, with 14.8 percent of the over 25 years old population having a Bachelors Degree or Higher, according to the 2000 Decennial Census. Franklin has a lower percent of the population with at least a Bachelors than the State of Virginia's proportion of 29.4 percent and a lower percent than the national average of 24.4 percent.

In the year 2005, the population division of U.S. Census Bureau estimates the median age in Franklin County, Virginia to be 41.1 years of age. The median in Franklin is greater than the median age in the State of Virginia of 37.2. From 2000, the area has seen an increase in the median age, at that time the median was 39.8 years of age.
