Employment for all industries has increased by 0.7 percent since the 2nd Quarter of 2005. This is less than percent in Virginia, which experienced a gain of 1.9 percent from the 2nd Quarter of 2005. The gains were less than than the gain reported at the US level of 2.0 percent.

When calculating the total land area, Lancaster spans a total area of 133 square miles. The county has a medium-low density of 87 persons per square mile, in 2005.
