The &lt;I&gt;American Indian and Alaska Native&lt;/I&gt; headed households in Virginia reported an income level of $49,920, which was 8.6 percent less than the areas median level for all households. In the State of Virginia, &lt;I&gt;White&lt;/I&gt; householders had a median income (2005 Dollars) of $59,120 as reported by the Decennial Census of 2000, which was 8.3 percent greater than the median in 2000. &lt;I&gt;Black or African American&lt;/I&gt; headed households had a median household income that was 30.9 percent less than the total 2000 reported median, with a their median reported to be $37,755. It was reported in 2000 that the &lt;I&gt;Asian&lt;/I&gt; headed households had median household incomes of $67,181. This median income level is 23 percent greater than the all households reported median in the state.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Compared to other States throughout the nation, the State of Virginia had a relatively high median income for all households of $54,612 (Adjusted to 2005 Dollars). The State of Virginia has a higher percent of population with a BA or Higher percent than United States proportion of 27.2 percent.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;From the years 2000 to 2005, the proportion of the male population that could be considered highly educated has increased by 2.4 percent.
