Orleans County, Vermont has a moderately-educated population, with 16.2 percent of the population (+25) having received at least a Bachelors Degree, as reported in the Decennial Census of 2000. Orleans has a lower percent of population with this high education level than the State of Vermont's proportion of 29.4 percent and a lower percent than the US proportion of 24.4 percent.

Orleans County, Vermont had a total estimated population of 27,640 in 2005. The estimated population has increased, since the population in 2000 of 26,346. This growth shows an increase of 4.9 percent. Orleans ranks 4 of 14 counties in terms of population growth in Vermont and the county ranks 994 of 3,141 counties by growth in county population in the United States.

The U.S. Census Bureau, in the year 2005, estimated a median age in Orleans County, Vermont to be 41.0 years of age. The median age in Orleans is greater than the median age for the State of Vermont of 40.7. Since the year 2000, the area has seen an increase in the median age, at that time the median was 39.4 years of age. With 21.2 percent of the 2005 population being comprised of individuals under the age of 18, Orleans can be described as being made up of a medium-low percent of individuals under 18.
