Income and Poverty in Washington County, Vermont

Hispanic in Washington County, Vermont recorded a median income of $45,257, which is 5.6 percent less than reported value of the areas total household median income for all households. The households that were headed by an American Indian and Alaska Native individual in Washington County reported an income level of $33,239, this was 30.7 percent less than the median level for total households in the area. It was reported in 2000 that the Asian headed households had median household incomes of $34,313. This household income level is 28.4 percent less than the reported median for all households in the area. Black or African American headed households had median income levels that were 6.8 percent greater than the overall reported level in 2000, with a reported median of $51,188. In Washington County, Vermont White headed households reported household income (in 2005 Dollars) of $48,200 according to the 2000 Dencennial Census, which was 0.5 percent greater than the median in the year 2000.

Higher Education in Washington County, Vermont

Washington County, Vermont has a very highly-educated 2000 population, with 32.2 percent of the over 25 years old population having a Bachelors Degree or Higher, according to the 2000 Decennial Census. Washington was reported to have a higher percent of individuals with higher educations than the State of Vermont's proportion of 29.4 percent and a higher percent than the US proportion of 24.4 percent.

The women in Washington have achieved a lower level of higher education (Bachelors or Higher) than men -- 32.6 percent (Men) versus 31.8 percent (Women). A high proportion of the female population in the area has reached the Bachelors Degree or Higher category, with 31.8 percent of the women population in the area achieving this level of education.

Employment Report for Washington County, Vermont -- Annual 2005 Industry Summary

Arts, entertainment, and recreation is an attractive industry due to its high level of job growth since the year 2001 in Washington County, increasing in size by 17.1 percent. This is greater than the change in industry employment in the United States of 4.7 percent. The State of Vermont encountered a change in industry employment of 12.8 percent, in the recent period of 2001-2005.

Educational services is the industry with the largest establishments in Washington County, with the industry averaging 31 employees per business. This is greater than the industry's average in the United States of 27 and greater than the Vermont average of 28 for the Educational services industry.

In Washington County, Educational services, Finance and insurance and Other services, except public administration have the highest US LQ in 2005. The Educational services industry has a US LQ in the county of 2.78. The level of employment in the Educational services industry is 2.78 times more than the average percent in the United States, revealing signs that Washington County produces more than its local requirement of products and/or services of Educational services.
