In Kitsap County, jobs in the fishing pay the highest wages

People with jobs in the fishing industry had the highest average wages in Kitsap County for 2006. The average worker in the industry in Kitsap County received a wage of $339,054 in 2nd quarter of 2006. The pay is greater than the average industry wage in the State of Washington of $83,007 and greater than then the pay for jobs in this industry in the United States of $62,933.

Income and Poverty in Kitsap County, Washington

As the median household income witnessed a decline in the last five year in Kitsap County, Washington, the Race/Ethnicity category that saw the sharpest decline in the household income level was the Hispanic Race/Ethnicity category. This group experienced a decline of 34.8 percent in the last five years. The women in Kitsap have achieved a lower level of higher education (Bachelors or Higher) than men -- 26.6 percent (Men) versus 24 percent (Women). The most common level of education for women in the area is Some College or Associates Degree category, with 39.6 percent of the women population in the area achieving this level of education.

Demographic Profile for Kitsap County, Washington

The population division of the Census Bureau estimates in 2005 a median age in Kitsap County, Washington to be 37.2 years old. The median in Kitsap is greater than the median age in the State of Washington of 36.7. Since the year 2000, the area has witnessed an increase in the median, when the median age was 35.6 years of age.
