Total industry employment has increased by 10.9 percent since the 2nd Quarter figures of 2001. This change is greater than percent in the State of Washington, which experienced a gain of 5.3 percent from 2001 (2nd Quarter). Income and Poverty in Snohomish County, Washington

As the median income level saw a decline since 2000 in Snohomish County, Washington, the Race/Ethnicity category that felt the biggest decline in median income was the Hispanic category. This group felt a decline of 30.7 percent in the last five years. The White Race/Ethnicity category has been least effected by the income level decline in Snohomish County, undergoing a 11.6 percent decline in household income, since the reported levels in 2000.

Higher Education in Snohomish County, Washington

The 2000 Decennial Census reported that in Snohomish County, Washington, the most common level of education achieved in the area for the male population is the Some College or Associates Degree category, with 37.4 percent receiving this level of education. The women in Snohomish have achieved a lower level of higher education (Bachelors or Higher) than the men in the area: 26.2 percent (Men) versus 22.8 percent (Women). The most common level of education for women in the area is Some College or Associates Degree category, with 40.2 percent of the areas female population attaining this level of education.

Since the year 2000, Snohomish has increased in the percent of the population that is over the age of 25 with a BA or Higher. Demographic Profile for Snohomish County, Washington

Snohomish County, Washington has a population base that is comprised of 79.9 percent White, 2 percent African American, 7.3 percent Asian, and 6.3 percent Hispanic. The area population base can be described as having a high amount of racial and ethnic diversity, with 15.6 percent minorities. This is less than the State of Washington percent of 18.3. Since 2000, Snohomish has increased the percent of minority population when 12.3 percent of the population were minorities.

Snohomish County, Washington had an estimated population of 655,944 for the year 2005. The total population has increased sharply, from the population in the year 2000 of 609,175. This growth denotes an increase of 7.7 percent. Snohomish ranks 4 of 39 counties by growth in total population in Washington and the county ranks 65 of 3,141 counties when analyzing total county population change across the nation.

Since 2000, a high number of individuals have migrated to Snohomish from another country. The international migration into Snohomish makes up 9 percent of all immigration into Washington. Employment Report for Snohomish County, Washington -- Annual 2005 Industry Summary

In Snohomish County, Manufacturing, Retail Trade, and the Health care and social assistance industries have the largest percent of jobs of all industries. The Manufacturing is the largest employment industry and makes up 23.8 percent of all jobs throughout the county, totaling 43,996 individuals. The Retail Trade and Health care and social assistance industries make up 15.2 and 10.5 percent of total employment, respectively.

Manufacturing is the industry with the largest establishments in Snohomish County, averaging 56 jobs per establishment, which is greater than the industry's average in the United States of 39 and greater than the State of Washington average establishment size of 36 for the Manufacturing industry.

The Manufacturing sector has decreased the most in local industry presence in Snohomish County, from the year 2001 to 2005, accounting for 29.1 percent of employment in 2001 to 23.8 percent of total employment in the year 2005.
