Ohio County One-Year Industry Employment Change

The total number of jobs has decreased by 0.3 percent from 2005 (2nd Quarter). These figures are greater than percent in the State of West Virginia, which saw a gain of 1.6 percent from the 2nd Quarter of 2005. The losses the area experienced were greater than than the gain felt at the national level of 2.0 percent.

The Nonresidential building construction industry has seen the largest percentage job growth, expanding by 140.0 percent from the 2nd quarter of 2005 to the 2nd quarter of 2006. This industry sector in Ohio County has grow faster than the industry has grown in the State of West Virginia, where it saw a gain of 14.3 percent. The Nonresidential building construction industry in Ohio County outpaced the United States, which experienced a gained 6.1 percent of the industry employment.
