Higher Education in the State of Wyoming

From the year 2000, the State of Wyoming has increased in the population percent with a Bachelors of Higher. This population percent has grown by 1.2 percent to a total of 23.2 percent in 2005. According to the American Community Survey, the proportion of the population in 2005 with a BA or Higher is less than the United States percent of 27.2.

According to the 2000 Census Decennial, the counties in the State of Wyoming range, in terms of percent of population (over 25) with a Bachelors Degree or Higher, from a high of 45.8 percent in Teton County to a low of 14.4 percent in Weston County.

Wyoming may to understood as having a less-educated working age population, with 23.2 percent of the population (+25) having received a BA or higher, as reported in American Community Survey of 2005. The State of Wyoming has a lower percent of population with a BA or Higher percent than the US proportion of 27.2 percent.

Reported by the 2005 American Community Survey in the State of Wyoming, the largest educational attainment category for men is the High School Diploma category, with 34.8 percent achieving this level. The female population in the Wyoming have on average achieved a lower level of higher education (Bachelors Degree or Higher) than the male population-- 24 percent (Men) versus 22.4 percent (Women). Many of the women in the area achieving a Some College or Associates Degree category, with 37.2 percent of the female population achieving this education level.

In the State of Wyoming as reported in the 2005 American Community Survey, 23.8 percent of the White Alone, . percent of Black or African American, . percent of the Asian alone and 4.2 percent of the Hispanic or Latino population, over the age 25, has achieved a Bachelors Degree or Higher.

From 2000 to 2005, the percent of the male population that can be considered highly educated has increased by 1.0 percent. By the year 2005, 24 percent of area's male population, over the age 25, achieved a Bachelors Degree or Higher. At the same time, the percent of women, over the age 25, holding at least a Bachelors Degree has increased by a total of 1.6 percent. By 2005, a total of 22.4 percent of the total female population achieved this high level of education.
